Have had this for about 4 years. Originally purchased it for a plasti-dip project but I’ve used for so many other jobs since. Painting the kids rooms, painting furniture I’ve built, spray finishing both painted and polyurethane trim in my home, you name it.Getting dialed in to the right pressure and flow can be tricky as this thing has the ability to lay down a LOT of product, so start on the lower settings and work UP, not the opposite. Otherwise you’ll blast out a quart of paint in about a minute and have a runny mess.I purchased this to raptor line my truck. It laid down a very even coat without bad surprises. Make sure you soak in soap and water immediately after you use it.If you don’t have a compressor and want to spray liner or plastidip this is a excellent choice.I've only used this to stain a playset so far but have future plans to use for plasti dip and other large paint projects. As far as this first project goes the gun worked flawlessly and was super easy to set up, tear down and clean.Recently I purchased the sprayer to Raptor-line my truck. Like most folks the initial use worked fantastic and was happy with the results. The second use pretty much ruined my paint job. The paint stopped flowing, then after SEVERAL hours of cleaning, the paint ONLY flowed when the unit was turned upside down. After another hour of troubleshooting I discovered that the little blue tack-looking gasket had been sucked into the air valve. Once I pulled out the gasket and reseated it so it was "free-floating" on top, it began working as it was supposed to. By the way if you need to replace the gasket or any part of the air intake assembly, here is a link to the replacement kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010MEDQZY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1The biggest problem with the motocoat sprayer is that there are so many parts that must be thoroughly cleaned and checked that it is easy to miss something... and the time it takes to adequately clean it (once you've discovered all the little nuances) is easily 1-2 hours, especially if you're using bedliner. I would have given the product a much higher rating had it not been the cleaning and part issues. Perhaps Wagner can apply some sort of Teflon or similar coating to make cleanup easier.Although not my original intension, I am now an expert at cleaning and troubleshooting the motocoat sprayer. So if you're having an issue with the sprayer, post your question and I will be happy to answer it.Good luck with your future motocoat projects.I'd give it five stars with the only exception that Wagners' description of the "flow control" is wrong. The knob, that they refer to as a flow control on the detail sprayer does NOT control flow. But this is a GOOD thing. It is merely an adjustable stopper for the trigger. The trigger is what controls flow, the same as a dual action airbrush will with the only difference being that airflow is constant and not trigger controlled. The farther you pull the trigger back; the more fluid is sprayed. I tested it with acrylic urethane metallic paint I plan to paint the top of a trunk lid and absolutely it will do a great job. You can, with control of the full trigger range; spray automotive paint thinned to the same amount you'd use for traditional compressor/hvlp gun systems, from a fine mist to a large, heavy fan. The only drawback is the airflow again, does not stop on trigger release...and it's pretty strong even on the low setting. That could be a challenge when using any traditional paint stroke techniques for automotive like you might find in a tech write up by PPG.I will return with pics when I get this done.I used this product to paint in several applications;1. Using the duplicolor garage primer surfacer, paint, and topcoat --- I refinished my car in deep blue metallic and have received many compliments on it! Always shocks people that I did it at home. (Be sure to put 6-7 coats of clear over the color immediately after to allow for wet-sanding and buffing, also go slow and maintain you gun distance and spray pattern! Lastly don't skimp on prep, sanding/cleaning/taping the surface has a huge impact on the final result!)2. I applied gunmetal grey plastidip and topcoat from dipmycar to finish my wheels, mirrors, and tip of my exhaust. It has held up very well and the finish was very smooth!3. I applied an undercoating and rust inhibiting primer to the underside of my car. This was the easiest of the applications as it didn't need to look particularly good but greatly improved the road noise in my vehicle and gives me confidence for the winter.4. Lastly I have painted a desk using a latex paint; I used the finishing gun provided and thinned the latex paint 1/4 thinner 3/4 paint and it sprayed fairly well with the motor on setting 2. The finish is unbelievably smooth (better than a roller but not better than a sprayer purposed for interior paints)All in all, I am incredibly pleased with this system. It is very versatile and with some patience and research you could spray just about anything! Its fairly easy to maintain as well which is very encouraging for future projectsYou’ll have to have your reducing down pat, but once you find the sweet spot, it’s not terrible.I just pulled this out of storage and used it to dip two full vehicles and this thing is a champ. I had used it a couple of years ago to dip a motorhome, and it was great—so I put up a 5-Star rating but didn’t write a review.I’m writing this review now because I just had a terrible experience with the DipYourCar sprayer I picked up this month. It is junk! It didn’t have the airflow that this Wagner does. The Wagner also has a better handle design on the sprayer, so you don’t accidentally end up spraying a different pattern than you want (the DYC sprayer has this tall toggle that’s loose and moves on its own).Basically get this one—the Wagner is the better of the two.
